#2 - Memory's Arithmetic

Claire grinding coffee in my San Diego
Zoo t-shirt. Claire whistling that
Otis Redding song in the shower.
Claire on the front stoop, asking
About the cicadas. Claire tipsy on
Malbec, doing video yoga.

It’s spring again, and the fat rain
Falls like pulpy drops of
Watermelon juice on my forehead.
And blonde ale shows up in my
Fridge, brown bottles that sweat
Single dark rings onto the bright porch floor.
