Seafaring

I am the captain of the ship
The ship slides into the drink
We're all awash
There, off the bow
The stars dip into the sea
The sun arcs over the deck
The fish fly into the air
The spray spits in our face
Up the rigging, down the ladder
Into the hold, up in the nest
I am the captain of the ship
The ship tilts crazily
Where is the crew?
Who mans the deck?
All hands are scattered
Sails furl, the knots slip
Storms or calms,
We are swamped
I am the captain of the ship
The ship sinks steadily
