live with it

Can't go over it can't go under it
But not just through it, that's easy.
With it, every day until you die.
Every morning clip it to your bra
Or in your hair. Feel its weight on your face
Its chime and rattle against all the others
Live with them: you said them, did them
Rehearse how you could have undone them
By not doing them, by not going,
By doing, by staying awake. One strap.
One phone call. One question.
After every rehearsal return
To the one night only, its artifact.
Do not treasure it. Live with it.
