the olde queens tavern: heavy on dudes,
down at the court, a bevy of cougs.
quiet the corner and scarlet pub,
next time out--maybe the knight club?

I think it might be safe to say that the history of English language poetry has never seen a dudes/cougs rhyme!

Haha so true! In my mind, 'dude' and 'cougar' are the masc/fem gender epithets of the moment, so amazing that you rhymed them. Also, they happen to be super hilarious to say, early & often.

WHAT WE DO

Since 2010, Rutgers English PhD students and friends have been writing a poem a day for the month of April as part of NaPoWriMo (National Poetry Writing Month).

From the NaPoWriMo official site:

NaPoWriMo was founded in 2003, when poet Maureen Thorson decided to take up the challenge (modeled after NaNoWriMo, or National Novel Writing Month), and challenged other poets to join her. Since then, the number of participants has gotten larger every year, and many writers’ organizations, local, national and even international, organize NaPoWriMo activities.
